Thickness
Concrete Network sets 4 inches as the minimum for passenger vehicles weighing 3,000 to 6,000 lb, and 5 to 6 inches for trucks or large RVs. Going from 4 to 5 inches adds nearly 50% to load capacity [5]. An extra inch on a 640 sq ft driveway is about 2 more cubic yards of concrete.
Replacing an old driveway
Add removal. Fixr puts it at $2–$4 per sq ft for unreinforced concrete and $4–$6 with rebar [6]. See concrete removal cost. If the old slab is sound and only the surface is worn, resurfacing can cost far less.
